Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, the Instrumentation Mechanic is accountable for the general instrumentation installation, maintenance and repair of assets at Agrium, Vanscoy Potash Operations (VPO) in a safe, timely and cost effective manner. This position works with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and microprocessor-based instruments for measuring and controlling pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion and force. 
 
Specific responsibilities will include:

 

Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, P&ID and architectural drawings.
Repair, maintain and install measurement and control equipment such as valves, analyzers, control systems, gauges, and transmitters. 
Install, test and commission new instrument systems.
Test and diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices in consultation with manufacturers’ manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures.
Support and participate in all activities required to ensure a safe workplace.

 

Qualifications of the position include:

 

· Journeyperson Instrument Technician / Mechanic Certificate required. 
· A minimum of 2 years of plant maintenance experience in a Heavy Industrial industry;
· Strong troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision. 
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

 

 This position is located near Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, at Agrium’s Potash Mine facility.

 

Vanscoy Potash Operations (VPO) is located approximately 33 kilometers southwest of Saskatoon. VPO produces four sizes of high quality potash for shipment to markets around the world. The ore body is one kilometer below the surface. An extensive network of underground roads takes workers to the mine faces and various shops. This operation directly employs over 600 people.
